Due to the restrictions that have been in place in 2020 in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Head of the Waikato River Race will only take place if safe to do so and restrictions allow. For now, we will hope and plan that by the end of September, sporting events like this are able to take place. Thank you for your understanding in these unprecedented times.

Celebrate the end of winter training and welcome in the Summer!
Following in the tradition of all the great rowing nations, New Zealand is getting it's own Head of the Waikato River Race! This race will be based at Mighty River Domain on Lake Karapiro, with racing starting approx 7km upstream of the finish tower. Racing will be a time trial format with 15 second gaps between boats. This race will be a true test of endurance, efficiency and coxing genius!
